About Criminal Defense Attorney: Maureen F. Baldwin

Over my 27 years of criminal defense practice, I have had the opportunity to represent and talk with many ordinary people who are suddenly thrown into the court system due to criminal charges. Whether the crime charged or under investigation is very serious, such as homicide, robbery, or a sexual offense, or "just a simple misdemeanor" like petty theft or a fight with a neighbor, the accusation is both upsetting and sometimes even frightening. This is most often true when someone has been unjustly accused, or the police and prosecutor are not aware of all the circumstances. I take all of the cases I accept very seriously. I know your case is important to you, and it is important to me, too I will work with you to provide the best defense possible.

Whether criminal charges have already been filed in court, or you are under investigation by the police, I can help you get your life back. I fully investigate all potential defenses and work with experienced investigators to prepare your defense. A criminal conviction has very serious consequences in your life and the lives of those closest to you. A conviction can mean state prison or jail time, and a criminal record which can interfere with your ability to find work or change employment in the future. Let me help you avoid these dire consequences.

I have represented clients who have been accused of very serious violent crimes such as homicide, assault, three strikes, or sex offenses as well as those charged with less serious crimes such as theft, domestic violence, drug cases and drunk driving. I have represented both men and women arrested for domestic violence and worked up their cases so that the district attorney files no charges at all, or less serious charges than those charged by the police. When representing people charged with drug crimes, I have worked to have the evidence thrown out when a person’s constitutional rights have been violated. I have also worked with people who have drug problems, in order to get them treatment which may avoid harsh criminal penalties and sometimes even a criminal record.

I have successfully fought false accusations of sexual assault and child abuse. I have had cases dismissed by the DA, acquitted by a jury, or reduced to much less serious offenses after the facts are brought out in court. I have helped get sex offenders wrongfully placed on the Megan's Law site to be removed by the government. I have represented people charged with possession of pornography from internet porn sites due to government sting operations.

No case is too serious or too small for me to work personally with you, from the first interview, through discussions with the prosecutors, a thorough investigation, and through all the court processes. I will stand by you.
